SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER
Hockey Night in New York is seeking social media experts with personality and professionalism to develop social media strategy, including planning, implementing, managing, and monitoring. We want you to act as HNiNY’s voice on social media to build a strong online presence and engage with our audience, Islander fans, and hockey fans.
Overview
In the social media manager role, you are tasked with developing and carrying out online interactive strategy to attract the brand’s target audience. You will also apply your social media literacy to post content suited to the various social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Tik Tok. Success in this role will be demonstrated by maximizing ROI for time and money spent on social media platforms to increase engagement and bolster our audience.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Creating and implementing the company’s social media campaigns
- Identifying the target audience

- Planning and curating social media content
- Managing social media accounts
- Monitoring social media trends
- Responding to audience interactions
- Managing partnerships with other brands
Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Great analytical skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Knowledgeable with social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
- Knowledge of SEO and keyword research
- Expertise in tools like Google Analytics and Hootsuite is a big plus!
- Pursuing or having Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or any communication-related field is also a big plus!
WRITER
Hockey Night in New York is seeking writers to cover the Islanders for hockeynightny.com. We are looking for talented, motivated writers who can cover the team and the HNiNY show in the following ways:
- Columns: Provide commentary and analysis on a wide range of topics surrounding the Islanders and the hockey world. Opinion pieces, personal essays, or more in-depth analyses of current events or trends. Develop a strong voice and point of view with a unique perspective.
- Features: Human interest stories about players, coaches, and other figures surrounding the Islanders and the hockey world. Profiles, interviews, or coverage of team-related events to provide interesting off-the-ice perspectives.
- Game Reporting: Report on the action on the ice with summaries and recaps.
- HNiNY Show Synopsis: Written recaps of episodes and/or specific topics covered within episodes of the Hockey Night in New York show.
- HNiNY Event Summaries: Written coverage in events HNiNY may participate in such as charities, watch parties, etc
Responsibilities and Duties
- Watching the Islanders!
- Writing game previews, recaps, columns, features, interviews, and breaking news
- Researching, analyzing, and gathering information on the Islanders, the NHL, and trending topics
- Gathering insights and quotes from interviews that can be applied to written pieces
- Creating content that presents unbiased views and is ready for publishing or release by deadlines
- Verifying the accuracy of information from sources
- Adhering to ethical and professional standards of journalism
- Building relationships with industry professionals and sports contacts who can provide credible information when applicable
Requirements
- Excellent writing and proof-reading skills
- Ability to produce timely, accurate, and engaging content
- Strong knowledge and passion for hockey, the Islanders, and the NHL
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple assignments
- Experience with digital media, social media, and multimedia storytelling
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with others
- Proficiency in WordPress is a big plus!
- Pursuing or having a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field is also a big plus!
AUDIO/VIDEO EDITOR
Hockey Night in New York is seeking creative audio and video editors to transform raw clips and video footage into high-quality finished media used to inform, engage, and inspire our audience.
Overview
In the editor role, you will arrange, assemble, and process audio and video clips into a seamless whole. It is critical that you adhere to established guidelines to effectively convey our message. Success in this role will be demonstrated by producing dynamic, entertaining, and audience-appropriate media to expand market reach and increase audience engagement.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Reviewing audio & visual footage, following scripts and outlines, adhering to special instructions
- Splitting, combining, and synchronizing video and audio clips
- Adding graphics, visual effects, titles, transitions, color corrections, music, sound effects, & voice
- Exporting videos and facilitating mobile and web distribution
- Exploring different versions and directions
- Ensuring compliance with highest journalist standards
- Checking for mistakes before submitting content for review
- Adjusting formats and file sizes as needed
Requirements
- Audio/Video editing and post-production experience
- Proficient in various non-linear editing tools and other software (Edius, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Lightroom, Audition, ProTools, etc)
- Deep understanding of digital trends and editing principles
- Creative and innovative
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Pursuing or having a Bachelor’s degree in Film or related field is a big plus!
