Sean and Stefen welcome JT Brown of Root Sports to the show to chat about his time in the NHL, in the broadcast booth, and give a preview of what’s to come versus the Kraken!

2:00 – Sean and Stefen break down the Islanders’ recent performance against the Minnesota Wild. They gave up a goal 19 seconds in and a costly turnover led to a Pierre Engvall healthy scratch for the following game.

4:20 – Engvall was scratched when the Isles traveled to Boston to face the Bruins. Engvall has been an integral part of the Islanders best line of himself, Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri. WIthout him, Lane Lambert promoted Anders Lee to that second line. That line struggled all night, being on ice for two goals against. Sean and Stefen questioned the decision making of Lane Lambert, considering the stark playing style differences between Engvall and Lee.

7:30 – Sean and Stefen discuss the recent struggles of the team and how the fans have reacted. Against a mediocre Washington Capitals, the Islanders just could not find the back of the net. They head out to the west coast for a four game trip, a trip that could potentially decide the fate of Lane Lambert and co.

“[The trip] is so critical. Team bonding, especially when you’re struggling, to get away from the distractions, focus on each other, looking in the mirror, holding people accountable, whatever it is… I think it could be a good thing for this team.

-Stefen Rosner on the opportunity for change on the upcoming road trip

12:00 – Sean and Stefen discuss a potential benefit of this western road trip. The team could have the chance to bounce back from their home struggles and get the chance to bond on the road.

18:40 – Sean asks JT what it was like to be a part of the first all-Black TV booth last year. JT talks about the importance of representation in sport and how the game of hockey will continue to keep growing.
