1:03 – Arthur Staple made his debut and provided the program with an update on his summer as well as his initial thoughts on the New York Islanders’ transition of power from former General Manager Lou Lamoriello to Mathieu Darche.
4:35 – The guys shifted to discussing some of the players that stood out during the preseason specifically the newcomers in Matthew Schaefer, Jonathan Drouin, and Maxim Shabanov.

Thursday (10/9) @ Pittsburgh, 7:00pm – the New York Islanders will take on the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena. While they could be a favorite to draft future rookie sensation Gavin McKenna, the Penguins still have Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Erik Karlsson and a complementary cast consisting of Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell.

39:59 – Sean proposed a season outlook for the Islanders, who currently inhabit a relatively weak and volatile Metropolitan division, according to Arthur.
43:15 – As a follow-up, Sean asked Arthur if the Islanders have the pieces to outlast and battle their potential Atlantic Division rivals in a wildcard race to acquire a playoff berth, such as Detroit, Ottawa, or Montreal.
46:58 – Sean and Arthur discussed if this year is necessarily a bad thing for the Islanders to be in that “Mushy Middle” due to the team having limited expectations. Arthur elaborated by explaining how Darche is still tinkering with the team, and the Islanders making a push for the wild card could pose as an indicator for the future of what needs to be added or subtracted.

Arthur’s Pick: Mathew Barzal was Arthur’s inaugural pick due to his bounce back from another season-ending injury as well as his return to his original position as a center. Acting as the team’s second-line center for the upcoming year, Arthur commented that Barzal seems to be a lot more fluid and decisive on the ice which is a tremendous indicator for the team’s top playmaker.
Sean’s Pick: Sean selected Anthony Duclair, who had a splendid preseason and is also bouncing back from injury. Duclair looked refreshed through his solid performances during the preseason, in which Sean comments that his speed has returned and he is looking adaptable throughout the lineup.

Jake offered a peak into the Islanders’ system by highlighting five key players in the Islanders’ revitalized prospect pool beginning with Matthew Schaefer who will be cracking the opening night lineup.
58:51 – Sean and Arthur discussed how it must be nice for Islanders’ fans to hear how the prospect pool has improved after so many years of having a lackluster puddle.
1:01:01 – Arthur shed some light on a very underrated but potential fan favorite in Keshawn Aitcheson, who was taken 17th overall by the Islanders this year in the 2025 NHL draft.
1:02:31 – Sean wondered if the Islanders’ AHL system improved this offseason with the new additions and changing of the guard in Bridgeport. Arthur highlights its uncertainty but also some of the success stories that have come out of the AHL Islanders.
