After a turbulent week, the guys are back to talk Islanders’ hockey and are joined by Dan Rosen of NHL.com!
2:08 – Experience Points! presented by Main Street Board Game Café
Sean and Stefen start off by talking about the Islanders’ losing streak that has set them back in a very close playoff race in the Eastern Conference.
5:18 – Sean provides his take on goaltender interference, highlighting the controversial call in last Monday’s game against the Blue Jackets and how the league needs to provide a better definition.
11:24 – Stefen subtracts 300 XP from both Ilya Sorokin and Marcus Hogberg for their poor performances this week.
13:00 – Sean subtracts 734 XP from Adam Pelech for his lackluster performance for a player that is considered one of the better defensive-defensemen on the team.

15:01 – On the Line: Dan Rosen, NHL.com presented by Tovi Hockey
Sean kicks off the segment by asking Dan Rosen what he thinks of the tight Eastern Conference playoff race where five teams are competing for the available Wild Card spots.
17:27 – Stefen asks Dan about the depreciation of the New York Rangers as they went from winning the President’s Trophy last season to competing for a wild card this season.
19:18 – Sean switches over to the Ottawa Senators and how they have seemingly figured it out among the rebuilding teams like Buffalo and Detroit and are currently running away with the wildcard race.
23:35 – Stefen brings up Ilya Sorokin and asks Dan how and why he has struggled in back-to-back seasons.
25:15 – Sean asks Dan about the Islanders’ displays of resilience and what this says about the coaching staff and their players for how they seemingly always find a way to stay in the playoff race against all odds.
28:09 – Stefen concludes by asking Dan Rosen what he thinks of general manager Lou Lamoriello’s statement at the trade deadline when he said, “changes are coming.”

31:59 – What’s on Tap? presented by Centre Station Bar & Grill
Tuesday (4/1) vs Tampa Bay, 7:30pm – The Islanders fresh off a 5-3 loss to the Bolts Saturday afternoon where they almost made a 4-0 comeback, only to fall short to a Jake Guentzel empty net goal. The Islanders need a win against a team that has consistently had their number to snap a 5-game losing streak.
Friday (4/4) vs Minnesota, 7:30pm – The Islanders will look to capitalize against a team that is still missing big names in Kirill Kaprizov and Joel Eriksson-Ek. A big win against an injured but still highly competitive Minnesota squad could go a long way in the wild card race.
Sunday (4/6) vs Washington, 12:30pm – The dreaded matinee arrives with Alexander Ovechkin zeroing in on breaking Wayne Gretzky’s goal-scoring record against. It will be no easy task against a team running away with the President’s Trophy and a resurgent Alex Ovechkin leading the charge.
“To me its shows that you have a bunch of players that care deeply and have no quit on their coach” – Dan Rosen on the Islanders’ continued resilience.
41:20 – Hero of the Week
Stefen’s Pick: Adam Boqvist
Defenseman Adam Boqvist has three assists as a forward this week when head coach Patrick Roy had him play on the third line as a right winger against his former team, the Columbus Blue Jackets. Boqvist has been excellent as well on defense and can play in all three zones. Boqvist is a spark on this team and has displayed his versatility for Roy.
Sean’s Pick: Pierre Engvall
Engvall had three goals in his last four games and was on hat-trick watch Sunday against the Carolina Hurricanes. Sean explains his frustration with Engvall because it’s evident he can play top-tier hockey but then disappears for stretches. Engvall has potential, but his inconsistency is still the focal point for the player. But for this week, Engvall has been a factor on the scoresheet.
47:25 – Welcome to the Snake Den! With Jake “The Snake” Radonis
Jake Radonis joins the show to talk about the Islanders’ prospects with the NCAA Frozen Four coming up.
49:02 – Jake mentions Cole Eiserman and his fantastic freshman season with Boston University. Eiserman recently had two goals in an 8-3 victory over Ohio State University to send BU to the Frozen Four.
49:39 – Jake talks about Quinn Finley and his incredible year at the University of Wisconsin.
50:19 – Stefen includes Kamil Bednarik in the conversation due to his sneaky two-way play that has earned him the trust of coach Jay Pandolfo at BU.
51:11 – Jake ends the segment with his take on this week’s gauntlet of opponents.
52:14 – Questions Brewin’
53:04 – Could the NHL use former players to help decide on goalie interference or even five minute majors since they know more about what’s going on, like Paros with player safety?
56:46 – Why did Lou hold on to Palmieri?
58:21 – Do I drink the bleach or just rub it into my eyes, is it not apparent that it’s time to bring up the kids and see how hungry they are?
1:00:14 – What is the problem with Duclair? he continues to be invisible it has to be more than the injury at the end of the day there is a reason why he has been on nine teams in 11 years.
