37:29 – What’s on Tap? presented by Centre Station Bar & Grill
Tuesday (1/14) vs Ottawa, 7:30pm – The Islanders will take on a Senators team that continues to rack up points in the standings as they try to snap their playoff drought. New York will look to build off their momentum from their three-game winning streak as the Senators are still without injured Vezina winner Linus Ullmark.
Thursday (1/16) vs Philadelphia, 7:30pm – The Flyers are another team standing in the Islanders way in the playoff hunt. Philadelphia has regained goaltender Sam Errson as he was absent from the lineup due to injury.
Saturday (1/18) vs San Jose, 7:30pm – The Islanders will look to close out their week against the rebuilding San Jose Sharks. They will look to avoid a repeat of San Jose’s last visit to Long Island (The Islanders blew a 4-1 lead and lost in overtime) for another important two points. The Sharks can’t be underestimated as they have looked better defensively and have players like 2024 top pick Macklin Celebrini who can score. Rookie goalie Yaroslav Askarov has also been outstanding for the Sharks between the pipes.
Sean emphasizes that it’s already crunch time for the Islanders entering the halfway point of the season
46:02 – Hero of the Week
Mike’s Pick: Ryan Pulock
Pulock has been a stimulant on the blueline during the Islanders’ winning streak. Mike stated, “He’s looked like Ryan Pulock of 2021.” Pulock scored in the 5-4 OT win against Boston and was essential on the backend against Golden Knights and the Utah Hockey Club where he helped both goalies, Sorokin and Hogberg, shut the door.
Sean’s Pick: Bo Horvat
Barzal has picked up his offensive game since returning from injury. He’s has been a force lately as he has points in five straight games and picked up the game winning goal against the Utah Hockey Club. Barzal has looked very comfortable on the new and improved top-line of Anders Lee and Brock Nelson where they have been the deciding force during every win of the three game heater.

49:27 – Welcome to the Snake Den! With Jake “The Snake” Radonis
Jake Radonis talks about his experience attending the Islanders/Rangers Alumni Classic at Madison Square Garden. Cal Clutterbuck recorded a hattrick against Henrik Lundqvist as the Islanders took the victory.
Jake then points put that according to the analytics of @JFreshHockey on Twitter, the Islanders are currently tied for 10th in 5-on-5 expected goals against per 60 which is a wild stat considering how the defense has looked lackluster this year. The Islanders have done a great job staying out of the box as of late and the penalty kill looks much more cohesive and improved.
55:46 – Questions Brewin’
56:48 – How y’all feeling about making a playoff run?
57:36 – Why do the Islanders not seem to hit on a lot of their picks? Is it Scouting? Development? Where’s the diamonds in the rough or that high end prospect?
1:02:31 – Explain LTIR and when it gets used. Varly gets hurt and goes on LTIR immediately. Mike Reilly get a heart procedure done 3 months ago and he was just put on LTIR this week. Why the difference and why did it take so long to get Reilly on LTIR?
1:03:27 – With the three game winning streak now, do you feel this may change plans for this team to trade away expiring contracts for draft picks and prospects and remain “all in” or is that still the plan?
1:05:26 – Chances we trade Dosbon if we are out of the race by the deadline? And if so, what do you think is a realistic return?
Sean discusses when it’s the right time for the Islanders to sell
1:08:01 – How likely is it that John MacLean has a job on our coaching staff at the start of next season?
1:09:53 – Can you see Lou trading Brock or Palms even if we are in a playoff position?
1:10:45 – Does anyone want to trade for either EP40 or JT Miller? Think our locker room doesn’t need either one.
1:12:21 – With the emergence of Hogberg do you see the Islanders trying to trade Varly?
1:14:04 – How many points out would they have to be by 4 Nations for Lou to actually decide to sell?
1:16:50 – Bridgeport seems like a hockey quagmire. How can we trust that our prospects aren’t getting lost in the weeds up there?
1:18:46 – Thoughts on Pageau’s season so far? Seems like he has been fairly quiet out there, other than his work in the circle.
