With the trade deadline drawing near, David Dwork joins the show to talk about the latest trades around the league.

2:23 – Experience Points! presented by Main Street Board Game Café

To kick things off, the boys discuss the most recent Islanders games. This week, the Islanders dropped games to both Dallas and the Rangers. However, they did stun the Bruins in Boston while taking care of business against Nashville.

8:25 — Sean and Stefen bring up Patrick Roy, who helped Ilya Sorokin focus on trusting his instincts during practice.

12:05 – Stefen awards 2,800 XP to Alex Romanov for his stellar play during the week. Romanov posted two goals and one assist during a three-game point streak, while also contributing physically with eight hits.

Stefen has some praise for Alexander Romanov

12:25 — The boys play a quote from Tony DeAngelo, who has been impressed by linemate Romanov’s play as of late.

14:03 – Sean awards 31,845 XP to Ilya Sorokin for scoring his first NHL goal against the Nashville Predators.

16:33 – On the Line: David Dwork, THN presented by Tovi Hockey

17:09 – Sean kicks off the interview by asking David his thoughts on the Seth Jones / Spencer Knight trade.

18:39 — Stefen brings up the possibility of Aaron Ekblad not returning after this season.

20:03 — Sean asks David if there are other moves the Florida Panthers could make.

21:15 — Stefen mentions Matthew Tkachuk, who was injured playing for Team USA at the Four Nations’ tournament.

David Dwork of THN talks about the Islanders at the deadline

23:34 — David compares this season’s Panthers team to last year’s Stanley Cup-winning squad.

24:51 — David gives his thoughts on the Islanders’ situation ahead of the trade deadline.

26:01 — Based on this year’s sellers market, David mentions what the Islanders could receive if they decide to sell before the trade deadline.

27:07 — Stefen asks if Casey Cizikas is a hypothetical fit for Florida.

28:21 — Sean asks who is Florida’s biggest threat to repeating as Stanley Cup champions.

30:43 — Stefen gives his thoughts on what the Islanders may do at the trade deadline.

“He’s emerging as a legit #1 defenseman because even if he doesn’t bring the hits one night, he’s going to bring the blocks.”

-Stefen on Alex Romanov’s development

33:40 – What’s on Tap? presented by Centre Station Bar & Grill

Monday (3/3) at NY Rangers, 7:00pm – As the Islanders head to Madison Square Garden, they will be looking for revenge against the Rangers. The Rangers defeated the Islanders 5-1 at UBS Arena on February 25, so expect an intense game. Both teams are also battling for the last Wild Card spot ahead of the trade deadline.

Tuesday (3/4) vs Winnipeg, 7:30pm – This is the last game the Islanders play before the trade deadline, and a win could propel the team closer to the last Wild Card spot. Expect the Islanders to come flying out of the gates as they battle to get into the playoffs.

Sean gives his latest thoughts on the Islanders deadline status

Saturday (3/8) at San Jose, 10:00pm – The Islanders kick off their California road trip right after the trade deadline. As they fight for a playoff spot, they will look to earn a big two points against a poor Sharks team.

Sunday (3/9) at Anaheim, 9:00pm – The second half of the back-to-back sees the Islanders facing off against the Ducks. The team will be looking to get four points heading into next week as the race to the playoffs continues.

43:10 — Sean asks Stefen about potential acquisitions for the Islanders ahead of the trade deadline.

44:44 — Sean looks ahead to the remainder of the season. The Islanders play 15 games in March, with tough competition going into April.

46:50 — Stefen brings up the Islanders’ potential plan. If Lou has time, he will use it.

48:18 — Sean shares his thoughts on potential moves based on how the next few games go.

49:43 – Hero of the Week

Stefen’s Pick: Hudson Fasching

Stefen chose Hudson Fasching for his resilience this season. Since coming back from injury (sustained on January 5th), he has brought energy, physicality, and high hockey IQ to the bottom-six. Fasching has fought hard to get back into the lineup, and for that he is Stefen’s Hero of the Week.

Sean’s Pick: Brock Nelson

With his future with the team uncertain, Brock Nelson has still been a leader on the team. With points in every game this week, including two goals and an assist against Nashville, he is still dedicating himself to the success of the Islanders. For being a tremendous Islander throughout his whole career, Sean named him Hero of the Week.

53:03 — The Snake Den

53:27 — There is a general consensus among fans that the team needs to retool. Jake “The Snake” goes over the Rangers and Capitals’ retools. Speaking of Washington, he also says Alex Ovechkin will break Wayne Gretzky’s goal scoring record against the Blue and Orange.

58:12 — Jake predicts the Islanders will get revenge against the Rangers but lose in overtime to the Jets.

58:48 — Jake also predicts the Islanders will buy at the trade deadline.

59:15 – Questions Brewin’

1:00:18 – Why is the talent pool so bad at Bridgeport you had to go outside the organization to pick up three defensemen when injuries started piling up?

1:00:46 – Given Barzal and his injury history, would you consider trading him this summer?

1:01:33 – Romanov and George for a first round pick (Frank Nazar). How do you feel about this trade at this point? How do you feel about Horvat for Beauvillier, Raty, and a first (moved out for Hronek)?

1:02:58 – Biggest NHLer getting traded this deadline?

1:03:44 — Fast forward two seasons and rank the following based on scoring: Holmstrom, Tsyplakov, Eiserman.

Stefen reflects on the JG Pageau trade

1:04:16 — Two-part question: with Hogberg not close to returning, if the Islanders win tomorrow and gain ground do the Islanders trade for a backup? And, do you see Mayfield getting moved?

1:05:46 — Fasching, Gatcomb, MacLean as a fourth line…thoughts? Cizikas, Pageau, and Holmstrom — decent third line?

1:07:05 — Presuming New Jersey and Carolina stay in the top three, who do you see the two Wild Card teams being?

1:08:47 — With the Ranger dominance in front of net last game, does Mayfield get back in tomorrow night?

1:09:37 — How do you feel about Pageau’s trade for Ridley Greig and what turned out to be Roni Hirvonen for the Leafs (acquired pick from the Sens)?

1:10:32 — If the Isles beat the Rangers and Jets before going out West, do you see anyone being traded?

1:11:08 — Has there ever been an out-of-town hockey reporter that said he enjoyed watching the Islanders?

1:12:15 — Can you explain how when Mike Bossy quit he scored 38 goals and felt he was a disappointment, and now the Isles get happy when a guy scores close to 40?

1:13:39 — Who would you rather have as your sixth d: Perunovich, Mayfield, Boqvist, George?

1:15:22 — Was that a game misconduct in last night’s stadiums game? Very similar to the Casey play. Height difference very similar but no call last night.

1:16:29 — Sean asks Stefen if he thinks Lou sells if they drop the next two games before the trade deadline.

1:17:29 — Special deadline episode or next Sunday?
